Terms of service

1. Acceptance

By accessing this website or using the Coinmidco wallet you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use the service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind it to these terms.

2. What Coinmidco is

Coinmidco provides self-custodial wallet software. We are not a bank, exchange, broker, custodian, payment institution or investment adviser, and we do not hold, control or have access to your crypto assets at any time.

• We do not hold funds, keys or recovery phrases on your behalf.
• We cannot initiate, freeze, reverse or block transactions in your wallet.
• We do not provide investment, legal, accounting or tax advice.
• Everything that happens on-chain happens because you authorised it.

3. Eligibility and sanctions

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract. You may not use the service if you are located in, or a resident of, a jurisdiction subject to comprehensive sanctions, or if you appear on any applicable sanctions list. You are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with the laws that apply to you.

4. Your responsibilities

• Back up your recovery phrase. Write it down offline, store it securely, never share it. Anyone who has it can move your funds, and that cannot be reversed.
• Verify before you send. Blockchain transfers are irreversible, so check the address, the network and the amount every time.
• Secure your devices. Keep your operating system and browser current, and use a PIN and biometrics on the app.
• Pay your taxes. Reporting and paying tax on your activity is your responsibility.
• Comply with the law in every jurisdiction that applies to you.

5. Self-custody and irreversibility

Because you hold the keys, you hold the consequences. If you lose your recovery phrase, no one, including Coinmidco, can restore access to your wallet. If you send assets to an incorrect address or the wrong network, the transfer cannot be recalled. If a device is compromised and your phrase is exposed, funds can be taken. These are inherent properties of self-custody, not defects in the software.

6. Fees

• Wallet, holdings and receiving: free. No subscription, account fee or custody fee.
• Internal swaps: a flat 0.3% of the swap value, displayed before you confirm.
• On-chain transfers: the network fee only, set by the blockchain at the time you send and paid to the network rather than to us.
• Staking: no platform fee; the rate and term of each product are shown before you commit.
• Changes: we may change our fee percentages in future. Where we do, the new rate is shown in the app before it applies to any transaction you authorise.

7. Staking and rewards

Staking products are optional features offered by third parties or networks and surfaced in the app for convenience. Rewards accrue from the moment a position opens and are paid when it closes. Rates are variable and not guaranteed, may change with network conditions, and are paid in the asset you staked, so if that asset falls in value your position can lose value too. Fixed-term positions release on the date shown when you committed. You remain the owner of staked balances throughout.

8. Third-party services

The app connects to third-party RPC and indexer nodes for blockchain data, market-data providers for prices, and, where you enable them, email and push delivery services and Web3 applications. We do not control those services, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their availability, accuracy or conduct. Your interaction with a Web3 application is between you and that application.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the service for unlawful purposes, including money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion or fraud;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, other users’ wallets or third-party infrastructure;
• probe, scan or overload the service, or interfere with other users’ access to it;
• impersonate Coinmidco, or distribute a modified build of the app in a way that misleads users;
• remove or obscure risk warnings, fee disclosures or this agreement.

10. Intellectual property

The Coinmidco name, logo, website and app interface are our property or licensed to us. These terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. Where components are released under open-source licences, those licences govern that code.

11. Availability and changes to the service

We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. The software is provided on an as-available basis and may be unavailable during maintenance, upgrades or events outside our control. Because your wallet lives on your device and on public blockchains, you retain access to your funds through any compatible wallet if our service is unavailable, which is one practical reason we build it this way.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that prices or blockchain data are accurate or complete, that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any staking rate will be achieved.

13. Risk

Crypto assets are volatile, largely unregulated in many jurisdictions, and can lose value rapidly, including to zero. Read the risk disclosure before committing funds you may need. Nothing in the app or on this website is investment advice or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Coinmidco and its officers, employees and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, opportunity or digital assets, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or wilful misconduct. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the total swap fees you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Coinmidco harmless from claims, losses, liabilities and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

16. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. Nothing needs to be cancelled and your wallet keeps working, because it is yours. We may restrict access to account features or to our interface if we detect misuse, are required to do so by law, or identify a security risk. Termination does not affect provisions that by their nature survive, such as disclaimers, liability limits and governing law.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. Before starting formal proceedings, please write to [email protected] so we can try to resolve the matter directly.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes are reflected in the date above and, where they affect account holders, notified in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

19. Cookies and local storage

The wallet does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. It does use your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB, which are strictly necessary for it to function: they hold your encrypted wallet vault, your selected network, display preferences such as light or dark mode, and a short-lived cache of public market data that keeps the app fast and lets it open offline.

Clearing site data removes all of the above, including the wallet, so back up your recovery phrase first. See the privacy policy for what, if anything, we process on our servers.
