What can go wrong, said out loud

A disclosure page is only useful if it is honest. These are the risks you actually take when you hold crypto in a self-custodial wallet, and what you can do about each one.

Only use funds you can afford to lose. Crypto assets are volatile and unregulated in many jurisdictions. Self-custody gives you control and responsibility at the same time: there is no safety net, no chargeback and no support desk that can undo a mistake. Continue only if that trade-off suits you.

Market volatility

Prices move constantly and can fall sharply, including to zero. A large swing can happen in minutes and no one can predict it.

No advice, no guarantees

Nothing on this site or in the app is investment advice or a recommendation. Stated staking rates are variable, are not guaranteed, and may not be achieved.

Irreversibility

On-chain transfers are final. A wrong address, a wrong network or a wrong amount cannot be undone by us or by anyone else.

Recovery phrase risk

Lose your phrase and the wallet is gone. Expose it and the funds can be taken. It cannot be reset or recovered on your behalf.

Network and smart-contract risk

Blockchains can congest, reorganise or halt. Smart contracts can contain bugs. Bridges and token contracts can be exploited.

Staking and lock-up risk

Staked balances may be locked until a release date and are paid in the asset you staked, so rewards can be worth less than expected.

Third-party and dApp risk

RPC providers, price feeds, email and push services and Web3 applications are outside our control and may fail or behave unexpectedly.

Regulatory and tax risk

Rules differ by country, change frequently, and may affect what you may hold, use or report. The tax treatment of your activity is your responsibility.

Device and malware risk

A compromised phone, laptop, browser extension or clipboard can steal whatever it can reach. Keep devices updated and install only what you trust.

Phishing and impersonation

Anyone who asks for your recovery phrase is attacking you. Support never asks for it, and no legitimate wallet will ever need it.

What we cannot undo

  • Reverse a confirmed on-chain transaction
  • Restore a lost or mistyped recovery phrase
  • Recover funds sent to a wrong address or the wrong network
  • Freeze, seize or claw back assets in your wallet
  • Guarantee a price, a rate or a return

What only you can do

  • Back up your phrase offline, in two separate places
  • Verify the address and network before every send
  • Keep a small reserve of the native coin for network fees
  • Check a product’s release date before committing funds
  • Never enter your phrase anywhere except your own device

Understand the risk, then decide

The wallet is free to try, signing up takes an email address and a password, and importing an existing phrase gives us nothing. Take it at your own pace.
